Rosemary Works School, Hackney, London, 2019, Aberrant Architecture
Interior fit-out of a school near Regent’s Canal in Hackney. The design references the Edwardian construction of the existing building and the waterside location. The building was stripped back to its original features and construction, revealing features such as a parquet floor and intricate pipework that were subsequently restored.
Each zone of the school has been allocated a particular colour, determined by a study of Edwardian colour theory. Classroom are bright and vibrant, corridors dark and rich. Many design elements were determined via consultations and workshops with staff and pupils.
