Architectural photography of the Leeds School of Art by Hawkins Brown Architects.

This is the amazing new school of art building for Leeds Beckett University by London-based Hawkins Brown Architects.

Creating accommodation for 2500 students and staff with film, music, performing arts and creative technologies all incorporated into the spectacular city-centre site.

Containing numerous highly flexible studio and workspaces, including green-screen facilities, sound mixing and foley studios, and stop-motion and acoustic labs, the architect’s concept was to provide a built “stage set” within the “theatre” of Leeds, and to use the form of the building to maximise collaboration between the disciplines housed within.

Between the main spaces are breakout spaces where informal practice sessions and exhibitions can be held.

Architectural Photography and videography completed over two days. All images copyright Simon Kennedy, London Architectural Photographer.
