Haptic architects have installed a creative recladding of an unremarkable car park at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, which they won through competition. The design includes graphic design contributions from Bob Design, and engineering from Eckersley O’Callaghan.
The design features sculptural powder coated aluminium panels which are strongly triangular in geometry, and whose module changes subtly along the side of the car park. The changes are achieved through highly efficient detailing. The powder coating has subtly different shades to enhance the sculptural effect. “Super graphics” are employed to indicate the zones of and entrances to the car park.
