Moxon Architects
Architectural photography of Balingen Bridge by London and Crathie based Moxon Architects.
A stunning foot and cycle bridge with engineering by IB Miebach in Balingen, Germany.
This one features glulam beams that span 40m in length, curving and flaring outwards as they approach each bank in order to widen, improving their accessibility. The beams not only provide the structure but also the balustrade (they extend sufficiently above the deck level), flood protection (same reason as before) and the sustainability credentials via their ability to weather naturally and last at least as long as an equivalent steel structure, and the use of timber to offset the embedded carbon in the concrete abutments. It doesn’t hurt that they also look incredible.
A joy to shoot – also nice to be able to use the Mavic 3 in the EU – once you have the qualification so much less paperwork required than to do the equivalent shoot in the UK.
