HAVERSTOCK ARCHITECTS
This incredible £7 million new-build school, completed by the brilliant London-based architectural practice Haverstock Architects, is a special free school for autistic 4-16 year olds. The architecture is beautifully and tastefully realised to create genuinely therapeutic spaces, allowing the students the best opportunity to focus their skills and intellect.
The school contains carefully considered spaces that can potentially cater for a student’s full scholastic career, with the primary and secondary school functions architecturally separated into different wings, with play spaces around the perimeter and a quiet, sanctuary-like courtyard in the centre. The school also features safe rooftop external terraces.
A very moving place to visit and photograph.
